Facts about Triptans in Migraine Management

By Carissa Andrews  •   February 11, 2019

Migraines affect 12% of the world’s population, but they are still misunderstood by those who don’t suffer from them. They aren’t just really bad headaches. Migraines are actually a neurological disorder that can leave a person debilitated for days as they try to overcome the symptoms of nausea, visual disturbances (such as auras), and sensitivity to light, sounds, and smells.

There are two different migraines treatments: abortive and preventative. For those seeking to reduce the number of migraines they have, a preventative medication would be prescribed. For those who are already dealing with a migraine, abortive medications, such as triptans will be their next line of defense.

Check out the infographic below to learn more about migraines (what they are and what they are not), as well as which triptan medication works best for which type of migraine. We carry all seven triptan medications in a variety of delivery systems, as well as preventative medications in stock here at Canadian Pharmacy King. Each require a valid prescription from your doctor.
