Brintellix (Vortioxetine) is an antidepression medication used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD). This is a serious mental disorder that affects the mood, a person’s ability to work, sleep, study, eat and enjoy life. Vortioxetine is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and serotonin receptor modulator. It works by enhancing the activity of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain by blocking serotonin reuptake. Brintellix is not a mood stabilizer and is not approved to treat bipolar. This medication has been approved for use in adults only. Vortioxetine: a review in cognitive dysfunction in depression – 02 November 2016), James E.
