Benicar (olmersartan) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Olmesartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. It also helps the kidneys to eliminate the extra fluid. Benicar is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adult and children who are at least six years old.
