Benicar (olmersartan) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Olmesartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. It also helps the kidneys to eliminate the extra fluid. Benicar is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adult and children who are at least six years old.
We currently have the brand Olmetec from Turkey and India and the generic Olmecip from India. It may come from other international suppliers. Benicar is available in tablet form and strengths of: 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg.

Benicar can cause injury or death to an unborn baby if it is taken during the second or third trimester. Inform your doctor right away if you become pregnant. Do not use Benicar together with any diabetes medication that contains aliskiren (Amturnide, Tekturna, Tekamlo, Valturna). It is not known whether Olmersartan passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while you are taking Benicar.
