Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is used to treat certain infections that are caused by bacteria. Doxycycline belongs to the class of medications known as tetracyclines. This medication may be used in combination with other medications to treat acne or certain amoeba infections. It may also be used to prevent certain types of malaria in travelers who will be visiting malaria-infected areas for less than 4 months. Vibramycin is a tetracycline antibiotic. Doxycycline Hyclate works by slowing the growth of bacteria. By slowing the bacteria’s growth allows the body’s immune system to destroy the bacteria.

Side Effects

The common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and upset stomach.

• Change in the amount of urine;
• Sensitivity to the sun (sunburn);

It may harm an unborn baby. This medication passes into breast milk but it is unlikely to harm a nursing infant. There may be an interaction between Vibramycin and other medications such as aripiprazole, birth control pills, carbamazepine, cholestyramine, methotrexate, penicillins, quinapril, warfarin, etc.
