Vemlidy (Tenofovir Alafenamide Fumarate) is a prescription medication used to treat people with chronic hepatitis B infection in adults with stable liver disease. Vemlidy belongs to a class of drugs known as antiviral medications and is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). This medication works by lowering the amount of hepatitis B virus in your body by lowering the ability of the virus to multiply and infect new liver cells and can also improve the inflammation and scar tissue caused by the hepatitis B virus in your liver.

The common side effects of Vemlidy may include diarrhea, depression, dizziness, fever, headache, insomnia, itching or rash, nausea, pain, stomach pain, and vomiting.
Tenofovir can affect your immune system even after you've used this medication. Inform your doctor if you have:
• Menstrual changes or impotence;
• Problems with balance or eye movement;
• Signs of a new infection;
• Swelling in your neck or throat;
• Trouble speaking or swallowing;
• Weakness or prickly feeling
Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Easy bruising or unusual bleeding;
• Flu symptoms, sore throat;

Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Vemlidy and other medications. Drinking alcohol increases your risk of liver damage. Vemlidy will not prevent you from passing hepatitis B to other people. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
