Trulicity (Dulaglutide Injection) is a prescription medication used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children 10 years of age and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in combination with diet and exercise. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder where the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or doesn't use insulin effectively, leading to high blood sugar levels. Trulicity is also used to reduce the risk of serious heart-related events like heart attack and cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes who already have heart disease or have multiple risk factors for developing it. The active ingredient in Trulicity is Dulaglutide. Dulaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It works by mimicking the action of the natural hormone GLP-1. The drug increases insulin secretion, slows gastric emptying, and promotes satiety.
