Trental (Pentoxifylline Extended Release) is a medication is used to improve blood flow and reduce certain symptoms of intermittent claudication. Trental belongs to a class of drugs called hemorrheologic agents. Trental causes changes in your blood to help improve blood flow and it also helps your blood carry oxygen to your tissues and organs. This helps decrease muscle aches, pain, and cramps while walking and doing exercise.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Trental may include bloating, diarrhea, dizziness, gas, headache, nausea, upset stomach, and vomiting.

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Chest pain;
• Feeling light-headed, like you might faint;
• Fluttering in your chest or pounding heartbeats;
• Red or pink urine;
• Signs of stomach bleeding
