Sustiva (Efavirenz) is a prescription antiviral medication that is used with other HIV medications for the treatment of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Efavirenz belongs to a class of drugs known as non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs). This medication is used to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. It works by decreasing the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better.
