Suprane (Desflurane) is a prescription inhalation anesthetic used to induce and maintain general anesthesia during surgical procedures in adults. In pediatric patients, it is primarily used to maintain anesthesia after induction with other agents. Suprane is commonly used in hospital and surgical center settings where trained professionals administer anesthesia. The active ingredient in Suprane is Desflurane. Desflurane belongs to a class of medications known as volatile inhalational anesthetics. It works by depressing the central nervous system, altering neuronal signaling in the brain and spinal cord to produce unconsciousness and prevent pain perception. Desflurane has a rapid onset and quick recovery profile due to its low blood solubility,, allowing anesthesiologists to control anesthetic depth with precision.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Suprane. The most common side effects of Suprane may include the following:
• Coughing;
• Dizziness;
• Headache during recovery;
• Increased heart rate;
• Nausea or vomiting after surgery

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Severe breathing problems;
• Severe confusion or agitation after anesthesia;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat;
• Signs of malignant hyperthermia, such as rapid rise in body temperature, muscle rigidity, or rapid heartbeat;
• Sudden changes in heart rhythm or blood pressure

These are not all of Suprane's side effects. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.

You should not use Suprane if you are allergic to Desflurane or any ingredient in Suprane. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Have a personal or family history of malignant hyperthermia;
• Have heart disease or abnormal heart rhythms;
• Have increased intracranial pressure;
• Have a known or suspected susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia;
• Have liver disease or a history of liver problems related to anesthesia;
• Have lung or breathing problems, such as asthma or COPD

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Suprane and medicines that affect the central nervous system, blood pressure, or muscle relaxation, including opioids, sedatives, muscle relaxants, and beta-blockers.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Suprane should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and when the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Small amounts of anesthetic agents may pass into breast milk, but short-term exposure is generally considered low risk. Your doctor may advise when it is safe to resume breastfeeding after anesthesia. Suprane is administered by inhalation using a specialized vaporizer in a controlled medical setting. It is not intended for self-administration. Patients are continuously monitored for breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels throughout anesthesia and recovery. After surgery, you may feel drowsy or disoriented for several hours. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or making important decisions until fully alert and cleared by your healthcare provider.
