Sofracort eye/ear drops (Dexamethasone/Framycetin sulfate/gramicidin) is a prescription medication used as eye drops to treat eye inflammation and prevent bacterial infection. Bacterial eye infections include conjunctivitis, blepharitis, scleritis, and episcleritis. The drug is also used in the ears to treat inflammation of the ear canal (otitis externa). The active ingredients in Sofracort eye/ear drops are Dexamethasone, Framycetin sulfate, and Gramicidin. Dexamethasone belongs to a class of drugs called anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. It works by reducing redness, swelling, and itching. Framycetin sulfate and Gramicidin belong to a class of medicines called antibiotics.
