Selzentry (Maraviroc) is a prescription medication used to help control HIV infection. Maraviroc is combined with other medications to treat CCR5-tropic HIV type 1, a virus that can cause AIDS. Selzentry belongs to a class of drugs known as HIV entry and fusion inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of HIV in the blood and by blocking the virus from infecting healthy immune cells. Selzentry is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

We currently offer the brand Selzentry from Canada also called Celsentri manufactured by ViiV Healthcare. The generic version is currently unavailable.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to Selzentry. The common side effects may include abnormal blood tests (newborns), dizziness, fever, cold symptoms, cough, rash, stomach problems, and tiredness.

Contact your doctor immediately if you have any of these serious side effects:
• Chest pressure, sweating, tight feeling in your neck or jaw;
• Feeling light-headed, like my might faint

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Maraviroc, or if you have any other allergies prior to taking this drug. You should also inform your doctor about your medical history, especially of heart disease, kidney disease, liver problems, and low blood pressure. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, vitamins, and herbal products. There may be a drug interaction between Selzentry and other medications. You should not take an herbal supplement containing St. John's wort while taking Selzentry. Avoid driving or any hazardous activity until you know how this medication affects you. Using this medication does not prevent your disease from spreading. You should not have unprotected sex or share razors or toothbrushes. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant and use your medications properly to control your infection. HIV can be passed on to your baby if it's not controlled during pregnancy. Women with HIV or AIDS should not breastfeed a baby. Selzentry is not approved for premature babies or children who weigh less than 4.4 pounds.
