Rogaine foam (Minoxidil) is used to regrow hair in patients who have gradually thinning hair or gradual hair loss on the top of the head. Rogaine foam (for men) is a vasodilator. This medication works by helping the blood flow to the cells in your scalp that grow hair or by increasing the number of actively growing cell.
Rogaine foam is manufactured in Canada by Johnson & Johnson. The generic Minoxidil solution is also called Mintop or Mintop Forte made from India. It is available in the strength of 2%/60 ml (solution) and 5%/60 gm (3 per pack). The 5%/60 gm Rogaine or Minoxidil is available with a prescription; the 2%/60 ml of Rogaine or Minoxidil solution can be purchased over the counter without prescription.
The most common side effect is the change in hair color or texture.
Severe side effects include:
• Chest pain;
• Fast heartbeat;
• Redness or irritation of the scalp;

Do not use Rogaine if the skin on your scalp is damaged, irritated, or sunburned. Before you start using this medication, inform your doctor if you have heart disease.
