Refresh (eye lubricant) is an over the counter eye lubricant used to relieve burning, irritation, and discomfort caused by dry eyes. Refresh belongs to the class of medications called ocular lubricants. Refresh is a carefully formulated solution that works by adding some of the same elements that your tears naturally have. This helps your tear film work more effectively to protect the surface of your eyes, and in turn reduce symptoms caused by dry eyes. You should not use Refresh to treat or prevent an eye infection. Contact your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they worsen.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist about using this medication if you are pregnant. It is not known whether this medication will pass into breast milk, or if it will harm a nursing baby. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medication if you are breast-feeding. Do not use this medicine while wearing contact lenses. Refresh may contain a preservative that can discolor soft contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before putting in your contact lenses. Wash your hands before applying the eye drops. Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or ointment tube. Do not place the tip directly on your eye. A contaminated dropper or tube tip can infect your eye, which can lead to serious vision problems. Refresh may cause blurred vision.
