Nizoral is an antifungal medicine and is used to kill fungus that causes dandruff. It is thus used for treatment and prevention of fungal infections of the skin. Use this medicated shampoo exactly as prescribed on the label or as directed by your doctor. Nizoral 2% shampoo (5 to 10 mL) should be applied to the wet scalp, worked into a lather and left on for 3-5 minutes before rinsing with water. Do not use Nizoral (ketoconazole shampoo 2%) by mouth. Use on your scalp and hair only. Keep out of your mouth, nose, ears, and eyes (may burn). For treatment of dandruff, use it twice weekly and for prophylaxis use it once every one or two weeks.

Nizoral is available from Turkey and United Kingdom by Janssen Cilag and from Canada by Johnson & Johnson. The active ingredient in Nizoral is ketoconazole. There is no generic available for this shampoo. Nizoral is available as shampoo in the strength of 2% in the size of 60 ml and 120 ml bottles.
Stop taking Nizoral and call your doctor at once if you have one of these serious side effects:
• Allergic reaction
• Very bad irritation where Nizoral is used
Less serious side effects include burning, irritation where Nizoral is used, hair loss, change in color of hair, hair texture, itching and dry skin. Please call your doctor if you have any further concerns or questions.
Do not take Nizoral if you have or had allergy to ketoconazole or any other ingredients in the medication. This medicine may cause harm if swallowed. If Nizoral (ketoconazole shampoo 2%) is swallowed, call a doctor or poison control center right away. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan or breast-feeding. Nizoral should not be used in children under 2 years of age.
