Nitrostat is used for the acute relief of an attack or acute prophylaxis of angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease. The onset of the vasodilatory effect occurs approximately one to three minutes after sublingual nitroglycerin administration and reaches a maximum by 5 minutes postdose. Effects persist for approximately 25 minutes after taking Nitrostat.
