Nexletol (Bempedoic Acid) is used along with a proper diet and other lipid-lowering medications to treat high cholesterol. Bempedoic acid is a first-in-class adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL) inhibitor. This medication works in the liver by blocking an enzyme needed to make LDL. Nexletol is taken with a statin medication to further lower cholesterol. High cholesterol can lead to a heart attack or stroke, and a statin medication alone is not enough to lower cholesterol in some patients. Nexletol is available as 180 mg tablets taken once daily with or without food. It should be taken at the same time each day with your statin medication.
Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand Nexletol tablets from United States manufactured by Esperion. It will be available in the strength of 180 mg tablets only.
The common side effects may include anemia, back pain, bronchitis, increased liver enzymes, pain in shoulder, legs or arms, stomach pain and symptoms of the common cold or flu.
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Increased levels of uric acid in your blood;
• Tendon rupture or injury;
• Upper respiratory tract infection
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Please call your doctor if you have any further concerns or questions.
Do not take Nexletol if you are allergic to Bempedoic acid or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications as Nexletol may affect the way other medications work. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding because it is unknown if Nexletol passes into breast milk. Nexletol may interact with other cholesterol lowering medications such as simvastatin or pravastatin.
