Narcan (Naloxone) is a prescription medication that is used for the complete or partial reversal of opioid overdose with signs of breathing problems and severe sleepiness or not being able to respond. Naloxone belongs to the class of drugs known as opioid antagonists. This medication works by binding to the opioid receptors and by reversing and blocking the effects of other opioids. Narcan Nasal Spray should be given right away but it does not replace emergency medical care.
