Muvalaplin (Muvalaplin) is a prescription medication used to inhibit the formation of Lipoprotein. Lipoprotein(a) is a low-density Lipoprotein variant, and it is a form of cholesterol that is largely caused by genetics. Lipoprotein(a) increases the risk factors of atherosclerosis and related diseases like stroke and coronary heart disease. Muvalaplin belongs to a class of drugs called orally administered small molecules. It works by blocking the apo(a)-apo B100 interaction while avoiding interaction with a homologous protein called plasminogen.
