Movantik Information

Movantik (Naloxegol Oxalate) is NEW prescription medication used to treat opioid-induced constipation (OIC which is the most side effects of opioid use) in adult patients with chronic non-cancer pain. Naloxegol is an opioid/narcotic antagonist works by blocking the effects of opioids on the gut and in the bowl and reducing the constipation caused by the opioid pain medications. Movantik should be taken usually once daily in the morning with an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal. Take exactly as prescribed.

Manufacturer Information

We now supply the brand Movantik comes from United Kingdom and Canada manufactured by AstraZeneca. It also has another alternative name called Moventig. It is available in oral tablet form and two dosage strengths: 12.5 mg and 25 mg. There is currently no generic equivalent of Movantik.

Movantik Side Effects

The most common side effects of Movantik include:
• Abdominal pain;
• Diarrhea;
• Gas;
• Headache;
• Nausea;
• Sweating;
• Vomiting;

If you suffer any serious side effects as below, please notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
• Severe diarrhea or nausea;
• Severe stomach pain;
• Opioid/narcotic withdrawal symptoms – anxiety, chills, mental or mood changes, sweating, yawning;

Customer Precautions

Do not take Movantik if you are allergic to Naloxegol Oxalate or any ingredients in this medication. Tell your doctor about all the medical conditions you have had before.
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Stomach or bowel (intestines) blockage;
• Stomach or bowel (intestines) disease;
• Stomach or colorectal cancer;

Stop taking other laxatives before you start the Movantik treatment. Stop taking Movantik if the opioid pain medicine is discontinued. Avoid consumption of grapefruit and grapefruit juice during treatment with Movantik.

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines including herbal supplements. Especially: “azole” antifungals, HIV protease inhibitors, macrolide antibiotics, etc. This may change how your medications work or increase the risk for serious side effects. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
