Midrid (Acetaminophen/Isometheptene) is a prescription medication used to relieve migraine and tension-type headaches. A migraine is a type of headache characterized by intense, pulsating pain, often on one side of the head. It may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light or sound. Tension-type headaches, on the other hand, cause a dull, constant pain or pressure around the forehead, the back of the head, and the neck, often linked to stress or muscle tension. The active ingredients in Midrid are Acetaminophen and Isometheptene. Acetaminophen belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics and antipyretics. It works on the hypothalamus to reduce fever and modulates pain perception by raising the pain threshold. Isomethepene belongs to a class of drugs called sympathomimetics or vasoconstrictors. During a migraine attack, the blood vessels in the brain dilate, increasing pain and pressure. By constricting these vessels, isometheptene helps relieve the throbbing, pulsating headache pain typical of migraines.

Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes it. Midrid is available as tablets. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. You can take Midrid with or without food, but taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset. For adults, the recommended dose is 2 tablets at the start of a headache, followed by 1 tablet every hour as needed, but do not exceed 5 tablets in 12 hours. This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years. Take Midrid as soon as you feel a migraine or headache beginning. It works best when used early in the attack, before the pain becomes severe. Midrid may cause dizziness or drowsiness; avoid activities requiring alertness until you know how it affects you. Frequent or excessive use of Midrid can cause rebound headaches, making headaches more frequent or severe. Do not drink alcohol when using this medicine. Combining alcohol with acetaminophen can cause severe liver damage and increase the risk of drowsiness or dizziness from Isometheptene. Store this drug at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep out of the reach of children.
