Mavyret (Glecaprevir/Pibrentasvir) is a prescription combination medication that is used to treat chronic hepatitis C, which is a viral infection of the liver. Chronic hepatitis C infection can cause serious problems such as scarring or liver cancer. Glecaprevir belongs to the group of drugs called HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of HCV in the body. Pibrestasvir belongs to a class of medications called HCV NS5A inhibitors. They work by stopping the virus that causes hepatitis C from spreading inside the body. The combination of Glecaprevir and Pibrentasvir work by reducing the amount of hepatitis C virus in the body, which helps your immune system fight the infection and may help your liver recover. Mavyret is taken with food usually once daily or as directed by your doctor.
