Lansoyl Jelly is an over-the-counter product used to treat occasional constipation. Constipation is a condition characterized by infrequent bowel movements and stools that are hard, dry, and difficult to pass. The active ingredient in Lansoyl Jelly is mineral oil. Mineral oil belongs to a class of drugs called emollient laxatives. It works by lubricating the stool and intestinal walls, making the passage of stool easier. It also softens the stool by preventing water reabsorption from the colon, increasing the water content of the stool.

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Lansoyl Jelly and other medications, such as oral contraceptives, fat-soluble vitamins, and other laxatives. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Lansoyl Jelly is not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the later stages, because the drug reduces the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, which are essential for fetal development. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Prolonged use of Lansoyl Jelly may interfere with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, potentially impacting the content of breast milk nutrients. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this treatment when breastfeeding with your doctor.
