Komboglyze (Saxagliptin/Metformin) is a prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition affecting how your body processes blood sugar. This condition occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin or resists insulin. The active ingredients in Komboglyze are Saxagliptin and Metformin. Saxagliptin belongs to a class of medications called DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors). Metformin belongs to a class of medications called biguanides. Saxagliptin and Metformin work together to increase insulin levels after a meal. They also lower the amount of sugar the body makes. Komboglyze is part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes diet, weight loss, and exercise to control diabetes.
