K-Lyte (Potassium/Citric acid) is a prescription medication used to treat or prevent low potassium levels in the blood. Potassium is needed by the body for the cells, heart, kidneys, nerves, and muscles to function properly. Potassium deficiency may result from prolonged diarrhea and vomiting, treatment with diuretics, or hormonal problems like hyperaldosteronism. The active ingredient in K-Lyte is Potassium. Potassium belongs to a class of drugs called electrolyte supplements. It works by replacing lost potassium in the body to prevent a deficiency.
