Hydrodiuril (hydrochlorothiazide) is a “water pill” that is used to treat high blood pressure. This medication helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps your body make more urine and get rid of extra salt and water. Hydrodiuril also helps to reduce the extra fluid in the body caused by heart failure, liver disease and kidney disease. This medication can help lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath or swelling in your ankles or feet.
