Histantil (Promethazine) is a prescription used to help induce sleep, treat allergies, motion sickness, vomiting and nausea. It may also be used to help with the symptoms of the common cold or to sedate people who are agitated or anxious. Promethazine is an antihistamine that belongs to the phenothiazine class. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring histamine in your body during an allergic reaction.
