Estragyn is a form of estrogen, and in a group of drugs called female sex hormones. Estragyn (Estrone) is a short-term therapy used to treat symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and vaginal changes. It should be prescribed only to women who have their uterus intact to prevent endometrial hyperplasia/carcinoma. It works by increasing the level of estrogen in the body. The usual recommended start dose is 2-4 gm of the 0.01%/20 gm strength intravaginally.

• Irritability

Less serious side effects of Estrone may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, mood changes, insomnia, cold symptoms, weight gain, headache, back pain, breast pain, thinning scalp, vaginal itching or discharge, changes in menstrual periods, or breakthrough bleeding.

Estragyn should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Estragyn. You should not use this medication if you have any unusual vaginal bleeding that hasn’t been checked by a doctor, liver disease, history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clot, an increased risk of blood clots or heart problems, or a history of hormone-related cancer. This medication can increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack. It may also increase your risk of cancer of the breast, uterus, or ovaries. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant or nursing and be sure to tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant while taking this medication. Estragyn can slow down breastmilk production. There may be some drugs that interact with this medication. If you are taking any of these medications, speak to your doctor.
