Elelyso (Taligluceraser Alfa) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with Type 1 Gaucher disease and children with Type 3 Gaucher disease. Gaucher disease is a rare genetic condition where the protein responsible for breaking down certain cell waste products is absent or not as active as it needs to be. The active ingredient in Elelyso is Taligluceraser Alfa. Taligluceraser Alfa belongs to a class of medications called enzyme replacement therapies. It replaces the enzyme glucocerebrosidase, a protein normally found in the body responsible for breaking down certain fatty substances. This helps the body recycle wastes normally, preventing spleen, liver, bone, and blood problems caused by Gaucher disease.
