Diovan (Valsartan) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Valsartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. The combination of hydrochlorothiazide and valsartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The full effects of this medication are usually seen within about 4 weeks.
