Dicetel (Pinaverium Bromide) is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). IBS is a common disorder affecting the large intestine, characterized by symptoms including cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and changes in bowel habits, such as diarrhea and constipation. Dicetel is also used to relieve symptoms related to functional disorders of the biliary tract and gallbladder. The active ingredient in Dicetel is Pinaverium Bromide. Pinaverium Bromide belongs to a class of medications known as calcium antagonists. It works by inhibiting the flow of calcium ions into the smooth muscle cells of the gastrointestinal tract. This action relaxes the muscles, which helps to relieve the spasms, pain, and other symptoms associated with conditions like IBS.
