Depakote ER (Divalproex Sodium) extended release tablets are used to treat various types of seizure disorders. It may also be used to treat bipolar disorders and to prevent migraine headaches. Divalproex Sodium works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain. Divalproex Sodium is sometimes used together with other seizure medications.
We currently have the brand and generic that comes from India. The brand Depakote ER is available in the strengths of 250mg and 500mg. The generic is available in the strengths of 250mg, 500mg, 750mg and 1000mg tablets.
Common side effects may include:

• Blurred vision;
• Loss of appetite;
• Weight changes
Serious side effects may include:
• Chest pain;
• Irregular heartbeat;
• Loss of consciousness;
• Uncontrolled eye movements
Do not take Divalproex Sodium if you are allergic to it or to valproic acid or valproate sodium. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness. This medication is harmful to an unborn baby; do not use this medication during pregnancy. This medication passes into breast milk, talk to your doctor before breast-feeding. There may be an interaction between Divalproex Sodium and other medications such as amitriptyline, diazepam, lamotrigine, rifampin, warfarin, etc.
