Decalcitrol (Cholecalciferol – Vitamin D3) is a prescription medication used to treat vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus. • Appetite loss;
• Constipation;
• Vomiting;
• Weight loss
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Metallic taste in your mouth;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, including breathing difficulties, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Decalcitrol is not recommended for use in pregnancy unless there is a deficiency. Vitamin D supplementation should begin a few months before pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Vitamin D is a natural part of breast milk. Cholecalciferol passes into breast milk in low amounts and helps your baby to stay healthy. However, excess Vitamin D could harm a nursing baby. Take Decalcitrol precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the softgel capsule whole with water. It may be best to take this drug after a meal, but you may take it with or without food. Cholecalciferol may be part of a treatment program, including dietary changes and calcium and vitamin supplements. Store at room temperature, away from light, heat, and moisture.
