Cipralex (Escitalopram) is a prescription medication used to treat depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and panic attacks in adults and children (above 18 years). The active ingredient in Cipralex is Escitalopram. Escitalopram belongs to a group of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the levels of a mood-enhancing chemical called serotonin in the brain. It usually takes four to six weeks to see the full effects of this medication.
We currently offer the brand Cipralex from Canada manufactured Lundbeck. The generic Escitalopram is available from Canada by a different manufacturer. Cipralex and the generic Escitalopram are both available in the strength of 10 mg and 20 mg tablets.
