Celebrex (Celecoxib) belongs to a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). NSAIDS work by reducing a substance in the body that leads to inflammation and pain. This action relieves pain and reduces swelling and inflammation. This medication is used to treat the symptoms of osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It is also used to treat moderate to severe pain for a short term period (less than 7 days) such as pain due to surgery, sprains, or tooth extractions.

Celebrex Side Effects

The amount of Celecoxib and how long it is taken varies according to the condition being treated. It should be used at the lowest dose possible to achieve pain relief. Celecoxib may be taken with or without food. There may be an interaction between Celecoxib and other medications such as ACE inhibitors (e.g, enalapril, ramipril), alcohol, clopidogrel, cyclosporine, fluconazole, furosemide, garlic, ginger, green tea, tacrolimus, thiazide, warfarin, etc. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of these medications.
