Canesten HC Cream (Clotrimazole/Hydrocortisone) is a topical prescription medication used to treat fungal infection including athlete’s foot, sweat rash, nappy rash, vaginal thrush and thrush infections of the penis. The active ingredients in the Canesten HC Cream are Clotrimazole and Hydrocortisone. The active constituents work differently to help treat fungal skin infections. Clotrimazole, an imidazole, destroys the fungi and some bacteria that cause skin infections. Hydrocortisone acetate is a mild steroid which reduces inflammation including swelling, redness and itching.

There may be a drug interaction between Canesten HC cream and other steroid and antifungal medication that works in a similar way. You should keep the cream in a safe place and away from the reach of children.
