Bricanyl (Terbutaline) is a prescription turbuhaler used to treat wheezing and shortness of breath from lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. Controlling these symptoms can decrease time lost from work or school. Bricanyl containsTerbutaline and this medication belongs to a class of drugs called bronchodilators. It works by relaxing the muscles around the airways so that they open up and you can breathe more easily. Bricanyl Turbuhaler is used as needed and it starts working within five minutes after you inhale it and lasts for up to 7 hours.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The most common side effects are nervousness and shakiness which usually disappears over the first few days of treatment. Other side effects may include agitation, drowsiness or dizziness, flushing, headaches, hives and rash, hyperactivity, muscle cramps, nausea and sweating, sleeplessness, and upset stomach.

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Chest pain or shortness of breath;
• Fast or irregular heartbeats;
• Low levels of potassium in the blood
