Asmanex (Mometasone Furoate) Twisthaler is used as a maintenance treatment that helps prevent and control asthma symptoms. Mometasone Furoate belongs to the class of medications known as corticosteroids. This medication works by reducing irritation and swelling of the airways. You may be able to live a normal life by controlling symptoms of breathing problems. Asmanex Twisthaler is not a bronchodilator and should not be used for sudden asthma attacks. Use a quick-relief inhaler such as albuterol to relieve sudden symptoms of shortness of breath. Asmanex starts to work within 24 hours, but the full effects of the medication may not be seen until one to two weeks. This medication is inhaled through the mouth, usually once a day in the evening, or as directed by your doctor. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. This medication works best if used regularly at even intervals. Remember to use it at the same time(s) each day. Do not increase your dose, use this more frequently or stop using this medication without first consulting your doctor.
