Alupent (Orceprenaline – Metaproterenol) is a prescription medication that is used to treat wheezing and shortness of breath from lung problems such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchitis, emphysema. Metaproterenol belongs to the class of medications known as adrenergic bronchodilators. This medication works by opening breathing passages to make breathing easier. Alupent is taken with or without food usually 3-4 times daily or as directed by your doctor.

We also carry the generic Alupent syrup manufactured by a different manufacturer. The brand Alupent is not available at this time. Alupent tablets are available in the strength of 10 mg and the syrup is available in the strength of 2 mg/ml/250 ml.

The common side effects of Alupent may include diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, nervousness, shaking, tiredness, and trouble sleeping.

Inform your doctor right away if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects such as:

• Fast pounding or irregular heartbeat;
• Muscle cramps;
• Weakness

Get medical attention immediately if you have chest pain.
