Alli (Orlistat) is an over-the-counter weight loss medication. This medication is used together with a reduced-calorie diet and exercise to treat obesity in people. Orlistat works by blocking 25% of the fat that you eat by keeping it from being absorbed by your body. Alli absorbs this fat by attaching to the enzymes in the digestive system and breaking the fat down so it cannot be absorbed by the body and is passed through the body naturally.
We currently have the generic Vyfat from India manufactured by Intas Pharma. This medication is available in the strength of 60 mg capsules.
Side effects may include:
• An urgent need to go to the bathroom;
• Flu like symptoms;
• Gas with oily discharge;
• Loose or more frequent stools that may be hard to control
You should not take Alli if you are allergic to orlistat or if you are pregnant. Talk to your doctor about your medical condition and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. Do not give Alli to a child younger than 18 years old. Avoid a diet that is high in fat. High-fat meals taken in combination with Alli can increase your risk of unpleasant side effects on your stomach or intestines.
