Albuterol is a bronchodilator. It is used to treat asthma and other breathing conditions. It offers a short-term relief for a long-term problem. An Albuterol inhaler is a quick-relief or rescue medication that is used to decrease asthma symptoms. This medication works to improve asthma symptoms by relaxing the muscles in the airways that tighten during an asthma attack.
Albuterol can be used in both dogs and cats who have bronchospasms, asthma, and cough. You may need to purchase a special inhaler device to use this inhaler for pets.

We currently have the brand from Turkey manufactured by GSK (also called Ventolin) and the generic from Canada and India and UK. Generic Albuterol from Canada is also known as Teva-Salbutamol HFA manufactured by Teva or Apo-Salbutamol CFC free manufactured by Apotex. Albuterol is available as: inhaler 100 mcg/200 dose, inhalation solution 5 mg/ml/10 cc, and solution pack 0.5mg/ml (20 x 2.5ml). The
generic Salbutamol ingredient may be sold under may various brands from different countries around the world.
Stop using Albuterol and contact your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
• Chest pain, tremor, nervousness;
• Dangerously high blood pressure;
• Low potassium (confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination;
• New bronchospasm or worsening of your asthma symptoms;
• Seizure (convulsions);
• Severe skin reaction- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, etc
Less serious side effects of Albuterol may include:
• Dizziness, spinning sensation;
• Dry mouth and throat;
• Headache;
• Muscle cramps;
• Nausea;
• Sleep problems (insomnia);
• Unusual taste in your mouth
You should not use this medication if you are allergic to Albuterol. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether Albuterol passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. There are other medications that will affect Albuterol inhalation such as a diuretic, digoxin, a beta-blocker such as atenolol, an antidepressant, other bronchodilators, etc. Inform your doctor about all the medications you use.
