Ozempic (Semaglutide Injection) is a prescribed to lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes and help them lose weight. Semaglutide injection belongs to the class of medications called incretin mimetics. This medication works by helping the pancreas to release the right amount of insulin (when blood sugar levels are high) and reducing appetite. Ozempic is not a substitute for insulin treatment. Ozempic may also reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems including stroke and heart attack. By controlling high blood sugar, you may be able to help prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs and sexual function problems. Ozempic is a once a week injection.
