Optimmune (Cyclosporine) is a prescription pet eye lubricant that is used in cats and dogs to manage chronic keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye). Cyclosporine belongs to a class of drugs known as immunosuppressants. This medication works by treating the autoimmune disease that causes dry eye and the symptoms by simulating the tear glands to resume normal tear production. It halts the immune destruction of these glands and reduces inflammation of the eyes in cats and dogs.

Canadian Pharmacy King is currently offering the generic Cyclosporine ointment from India also called Visiocare manufactured by Savavet. The brand name Optimmune is not available at this time. Cyclosporin is available in the strength of 0.2%/3.5 gm ointment.
The most common side effects of Cycloporine may include:
• Eye irritation (excessive blinking, redness, rubbing at the eye)

You should not use Optimmune ointment in dogs that are allergic to Cyclosporine or have either viral or fungal eye infection. It is unknown if this medication can be used safely in puppies, breeding pregnant or lactating dogs.
