Naftin (Naftifine) is a prescription medication used to treat fungal skin infections. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea corporis (ringworm). These infections are caused by dermatophyte fungi that affect the skin, leading to itching, redness, and scaling. Naftin helps eliminate the fungus and relieve symptoms such as irritation and itching. The active ingredient in Naftin is Naftifine. Naftifine belongs to a class of medications known as Allylamine antifungals. It works by blocking the production of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cells weaken and eventually die, helping the skin heal and clear up the infection.

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Rash or hives spreading beyond the treated area;

• Have chronic skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. Naftin is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream, so drug interactions are unlikely. However, using other creams or ointments on the same area may interfere with Naftin's effectiveness or cause irritation. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. This medicine is considered low risk during pregnancy. However, use it only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Naftifine is excreted in breast milk. Avoid applying the cream to areas that may come in direct contact with a nursing infant.

Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes it. Naftin is available as a cream. This medicine is for use on the skin only. Please do not take it by mouth. Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying the cream. Apply a thin layer of Naftin cream to the affected skin and surrounding area once or twice daily, as directed. Rub it in gently until fully absorbed. Wash your hands after each application. Continue using the medication for the full duration prescribed, even if symptoms improve early. Stopping too soon may allow the infection to return. Avoid getting the cream in your eyes, mouth, or vagina. Avoid tight-fitting clothing on treated areas to help keep the skin dry and prevent irritation. Keep the area clean and dry to prevent reinfection. Store this drug at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.
