Melacare forte (Hydroquinone/tretinoin/mometasone furoate) is a prescription topical medication used for the short-term, intermittent treatment of moderate to severe melasma. Melasma are dark, discolored patches, age spots, or freckles on the face. This condition happens because of the overproduction of the cells that make skin color (melanin). Melacare forte is a combination medicine. The active ingredient in Melacare forte are Hydroquinone, Tretinoin, and Mometasone furoate. Hydroquinone belongs to a class of drugs called topical lightening products. It works by correcting skin discoloration associated with hyperpigmentation disorders. Tretinoin belongs to a class of drugs called retinoids. It works by promoting peeling of affected skin areas and unclogging pores to renew skin cells. Mometasone furoate belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.
