Florinef (Fludrocortisone) is a corticosteroid that is used to treat Addison’s disease and adrenogenital syndrome. This medication works by reducing salt loss, increasing potassium loss, and increasing blood pressure. Fludrocortisone is a man-made form of glucocorticoid made by the body. Glucocorticoids are needed by the body in many ways to function well. They are essential for salt and water balance and to keep the blood pressure normal. They are also needed to break down carbohydrates in your diet.
