Binosto (Alendronate Sodium Trihydrate) is a bisphosphonate medication that alters bone formation and breakdown in the body. This can slow bone loss and may help prevent bone fractures. Binosto is used in women to treat osteoporosis caused by menopause. Binosto is also used to increase bone mass in men who have osteoporosis. Binosto works by inhibiting osteoclasts which are responsible for breaking down and reabsorbing bone through a process known as bone resorption. It strengthens bones by slowing down bone loss and allowing osteoblasts (bone-building cells) to work more effectively, improving bone mass.
