Tindamax (Tinidazole) is prescription medication used to treat certain types of vaginal infections (bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis). It is also used to treat certain types of parasite infections (giardiasis, amebiasis). Tinidazole belongs to a class of antibiotics known as nitroimidazoles which is a second-generation antibiotic agent. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and protozoa.
We currently carry brand Tindamax comes from India manufactured by Pfizer. It has another alternative name called Fasigyn. This medication is available in 500 mg tablets form. There is no generic version of Tindamax available.
Tindamax Side Effects
The most common Tindamax side effect may include:
• Bitter or metallic taste in mouth;
• Loss of appetite;
• Nausea and vomiting;
• Vaginal itching or discharge
If you have had a serious side effect such as allergic reactions, chills, fever, numbness, seizures, call your doctor or your pharmacist to get an emergency medical help.
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Tinidazole or any of the ingredients in Tindamax. Do not drink alcohol for three days before and after taking Tindamax. Take Tindamax with food. Tell your doctor if you are taking any medications including prescriptions and non-prescription drugs. Also tell your doctor about the medical history especially if you have had:
• A blood cell disorder (anemia);
• A weak immune system;
• Epilepsy or other seizure disorder;
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Yeast infection;
It should not be used for the treatment of viral infections (e.g., the common cold). Do not take Tindamax during the first three months of pregnancy or if you are breastfeeding. Consult with your doctor if it can be used during the last six months of pregnancy.
