Paraplatin (Carboplatin) is a prescription medication that is used in combination with other medications for the treatment of ovarian cancer. It is also used to treat various other types of cancer including lung, head and neck, endometrial, esophageal, bladder, breast and cervical, central nervous system, or germ cell tumors, osteogenic sarcoma and as preparation for a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. Carboplatin is an anticancer medication, it is a chemotherapy drug. This medication works in combination with other cancer medications by slowing or stopping the growth of the cancer cells. Paraplatin is usually given by infusion into the vein (IV) over at least 15 minutes. The dosage depends on your medical condition, body size and response to therapy.

Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the generic Carboplatin from Canada. The brand name Paraplatin is not available at this time. This medication is available in the strength of 10 mg/ml/5 ml, 10ml, 45ml and 60 ml vials.
The common side effects may be severe in some patients but usually go away within 24 hours. These include body aches or pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain and vomiting. There may be temporary hair loss but normal hair growth should return after the treatment has ended.
Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Blood in the urine;
• Dark urine;
• Easy bruising or bleeding;
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Mouth sores;
• Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet;
• Pain, swelling or redness at the injection site;
• Signs of kidney problems;
• Unusual tiredness;
• Yellowing eyes or skin

You should not use Paraplatin if you are allergic to Carboplatin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. You should not have immunizations or vaccinations without the consent of your doctor and avoid any contact with people who have received oral polio vaccine. This medication can affect sperm production in men. Men should use a reliable form of birth control during treatment and for some time afterwards. Paraplatin should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm an unborn baby. It is unknown whether this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding a baby.
