Opsumit (Macitentan) is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). (PAH) is high blood pressure in the arteries of your lungs. This medication can improve your ability to exercise, improve some of your symptoms, and help slow down the progression of the disease. Macitentan belongs to the class of drugs called endothelin-1 receptor. It works by blocking endothelin that causes the blood vessels to narrow, which increases the pressure required to push the blood through the lungs to get oxygen, decreasing pulmonary blood pressure. Opsumit is taken with or without food usually once daily.
