Lamisil (Terbinafine) is used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot, ringworm, and jock itch. The athlete’s foot appears only on the feet and is usually between the toes. It can also appear on the instep, soles, or other areas of the feet. The most common type of athlete’s foot causes cracking or scaling of the skin, mild swelling, blisters, or weeping ulcers. Lamisil is also used to treat jock itch. Jock itch appears in the groin and inner thigh area, usually on both sides but often on one side more than the other. The drug relieves itching, burning, cracking, and scaling, which accompany these conditions. The active ingredient in Lamisil is Terbinafine. Terbinafine belongs to a class of medications called topical antifungals.

Manufacturer Information

We currently offer the brand Lamisil from Turkey (OTC) and Canada (RX) manufactured by Novartis and the United Kingdom (OTC) manufactured by GSK.

Lamisil should only be used in pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Terbinafine passes into breast milk when applied on the skin or if it may affect a nursing infant. Use Lamisil precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Lamisil is a topical medication and should be used on the skin only. Do not take it by mouth. Do not use this drug on your nails or scalp. Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth. If the drug gets into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Get emergency help if you accidentally swallow the medicine. Lamisil is not for vaginal yeast infections. How long does it take for Lamisil to heal?
You should see an improvement within two weeks for jock itch and ringworm and within four weeks for athlete's foot; however it may take several weeks after treatment for the infection to completely heal.
